Quotes of the Week: Runnin’ Down A Dream May 26, 2011

Filed under: Insightful Quotes — Hannah Jane @ 12:41 am

In honor of my return to exercise — namely running — I decided to share some running-sucks-yet-feels-so-awesome quotes. I know many of you can relate! Enjoy :)

“The woods are lovely dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep.”   – Robert Frost

Many the miles…

“There are clubs you can’t belong to, neighborhoods you can’t live in, schools you can’t get into, but the roads are always open.” - Nike

But trails are oh-so-much better. I’ve always been a fan of the scenic route, in any capacity.

“A lot of people run to see who’s the fastest. I race to see who has the most guts.” –Steve Prefontaine

I run to see if I still can. And sometimes it makes me feel like I’m gonna puke my guts out. Does that count?

“I loved the feeling of freedom in running, the fresh air, the feeling that the only person I’m competing with is me.” — Wilma Rudolph

It goes a little something like this: ‘Why the hell am I doing this, self?” “Oh, suck it up.” “Self, I would scream at you if I had any air in my lungs. Or if I wouldn’t look like a crazy person.” Eventually, you learn to shut her off. But she has her angry days, even when I’m in the best of shape.

“You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.” — Eleanor Roosevelt

Ahhhhh okay, Eleanor. When you’re right, you’re right.

This is the part when I tell you the BIG GOAL: to run a half marathon this summer and a marathon by the end of the year. I think I can I think I can. I feel like if I can run a marathon, I can do anything. In theory. Maybe even write the next hit screenplay….

Love, honor, and side cramps,

QG
